Canopy Adventures - Article in Malaysia Airlines "Going Places"

Just quoting an interesting article i come across with on of the Langkawirian.

Maybe this can be example for local Langkawi or anaklangkawi to venture with similar business or gain idea's how much Langkawi can do for us.

This is a story of Juergen Bernd Hermann Zimmerer a 54yrs old German Nationality married to a Malaysian (Sabariah) & already been in Malaysia for 20 years.

*I visited Malaysia back in 1998 as a high school teacher. I was travelling in between countries before stopping over in Langkawi, where i fell in love - with the place & my wife, while working at the Pelangi Beach Resort. I was the recreational manager back then. Married with two kids.

*We started Langkawi Canopy Adventures after watching a documentary on how villagers in Colombia travel daily from one point of a valley to another using just a harness & a rope. Ours is an air-trekking course; in each four-hour session, we take participants ( dress in safety gear) jungle trekking, mountain & rock climbing, gliding 140m towards a fig tree & finally, abseiling 30m above the forest floor.

*Two other things to do when in Langkawi : Kayak around the islands, & visit the mangroves. There is this cave which I call No Name Cave; the only way in is by boat along the shallow channel. Once inside, there are beautiful stalactites in all sorts of shapes, ancient limestone's & whip scorpions! I think it might have been an ancient burial ground.

*I have also written two books Nature Guide Langkawi is a comprehensive guide to Langkawi's flora & fauna, and took me 5 yrs to complete.
