- 1Purchase tickets, for a Penang departure, at least one day ahead for the ferry ride to Langkawi. You can purchase tickets either online through Langkawi Ferry Services or at one of the many travel agencies located outside of the Jeti by Swettenham Pier in Georgetown. There are two departure times for Langkawi from Penang every day, times are subject to change so be sure to check with the ferries for the exact departure time.
- 2Purchase tickets for Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis at the ticket counters inside the Jeti. There are ferries departing every 30 minutes from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. for both sites with no advance ticket sales available. There are multiple ferry lines at Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis so look at each individual company for the best departure time.
- 3Line up for boarding. There will be an announcement either over a load speaker or by a person when it is time to begin the boarding process. Follow the queue out to the boarding dock and board your ferry. Place your larger luggage as you enter the ferry near the back and then proceed to your seats. Some ferries have assigned seating, whereas on others you can sit wherever you want. If there is assigned seating, it will be indicated on your ticket.
- 4Make port at the Langkawi Jeti, collect your bags from the back of the ferry, and depart. Follow the crowds into the main portion of the Jeti. If you are looking to take a taxi to your hotel, exit the Jeti and proceed across the street to the taxi stand to arrange for a ride to your final destination.
- 1Purchase your tickets to your desired port outside the Langkawi Jeti behind the taxi stands. Each ticket counter is for a different port and a different ferry line so make sure to check carefully before purchasing your tickets.
- 2Enter the Jeti terminal at Langkawi and proceed to the back of the terminal to enter the departure waiting room. If you are carrying duty free items, you will need to go through customs before entering the waiting area.
- 3Wait until the ferries boarding is announced and then depart the waiting area to board your ferry. Kuala Perlis ferries dock is out the left side of the waiting room and Penang and Kuala Kedah depart from the dock on the right.
- 4Board your ferry and store you larger luggage at the back of the ferry. If you purchased duty free items be sure to collect them before boarding the ferry. Items will be brought by custom official to the boarding docks.
- 5Arrive back at port and exit the ferry making sure to collect all luggage before departing.
