Laawnnging Around Langkawi

It felt like we did a lot today as we hired a scooter, and I was designated driver so took us off for a drive. It was a pig of a bike to ride actually and so we didn't go over 60kph as it all seemed a little hairy. We were very keen to go up the cable car on the north west of Langkawi and it didn't take all that long to get there along some windy roads and pretty scenery, including driving around the bottom of the runway of the airport. We turned up up 'Oriental Village' which is the least oriental looking place I've ever seen, and bought our 30RM ticket up the cable car. The highest point seems to be around 700m above sea level. there are 2 stops, a first stop at one peak and then you just get back on the car and get to the 2nd point. (writing in hindsight a little story about a mild annoyance involving an arab at this point in my trip - in tomorrow's entry)
We went up to the highest point where we had a 360 view of the island and all the many smaller islands in the area, including a large one that was essentially Thailand
. The other amazing thing about going up the cable car is that there is a curved sky bridge up there between a couple of other peaks which is very cool and offers a different view on things, including a long way down!

Interesting story..
