Aircraft Spotting In Langkawi

SPOTTER : LIANG WEI

For those who love Aircraft Spotting. Langkawi offers an excellent choice of great places for spotting. The airport is beautiful and the weather is great. There's even a platform atop of a hill (refer as red spot in the map below). The place overlooks the entire terminal & airfield which offers panoramic view of airport area. The place is call Observation Hill or Bukit Chenkuan (as the locals call it).

Its was always full of Aircraft Spotters during LIMA Exhibition (Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace exhibition) which were held once every two years.

The best spotting runway will be Runway21.

What is Aircraft Spotting?
Aircraft spotting or plane spotting is the observation and logging of the registration numbers of aircraft: gliders, powered aircraft, balloons, airships, helicopters, and microlights.
When spotting aircraft, observers notice the key attributes of an aircraft. They may notice a distinctive noise from its engine or the number of vapour trails it is leaving. They will assess the size of the aircraft and the number, type and position of its engines. Another clue is the position of wings relative to the fuselage and the degree to which they are swept rearwards. Are the wings above the fuselage, below it, or fixed at midpoint? Perhaps it is a monoplane, biplane, or triplane. The position of the tailplane relative to the fin(s) and the shape of the fin are also clues to its type. If it is an antique or light aircraft it might have a tail wheel. Some aircraft types have a fixed undercarriage while others have retractable wheels.

IODA World Sailing Championship 2010 ~ Cakap-cakap

Perasmian oleh Timbalan Menteri Pelancongan Dato' Dr James bersama-sama Dato' Paduka Abu Bakar Taib Ahli Parlimen Langkawi ~ Gmbar oleh Hamzah Osman.

Sepanjang kita ketahui setakat ini IODA World Sailing Championship sedang berlangsung.

Setakat pi event kalah buat apa. Takkan nak highlight sampai PM baru nak bagi perhatian.

Nasib baik ada Penaja-penaja yg menampung perbelanjaan (Terima Kasih  KFC, LADA & lain2). Apa-apa pun bukan Kementerian Sukan tak tolong. Adala bagi duit penajaan. Pada saya bagilah perhatian yg sewajar pada acara-acara antarabangsa seperti IODA Langkawi. Bukan apa impak dia pada pelancongan & sukan tanahair.

Filled with natural wonders ~ The Star

LANGKAWI is the only place in the country to spot the Mountain Hawk Eagle and Brown Winged Kingfisher and it is the easiest place in Malaysia to see the Wreathed Hornbill, Great Hornbill and Oriental Pied Hornbill.
Naturist and birding enthusiast Irshad Mobarak said that on Gunung Raya, avid bird watchers were guaranteed to catch a glimpse of the hornbills on any given day.

Anaklangkawi :-

Bike News Asia: Landbouwkrediet for Tour de Langkawi

ANDBOUWKREDIET, A BELGIAN TOUCH FOR LE TOUR DE LANGKAWI

BELGIAN team Landbouwkrediet will return to Le Tour de Langkawi after four years of absence. They are set to strengthen the field of the Malaysian H.C. race from January 23rd to February 1st.

This is a legendary team as the Belgian bank has been a faithful backer of the team for ten years already. Landbouwkrediet stepped in way back in 2001 but the squad managed by Gerard Bulens initially named under Saxon and then Tönissteiner was created in 1992. “Not many cycling teams manage to celebrate their twentieth anniversary”, said the founder who has put stability as his priority while other managers have tried to get their organisation to grow too fast and were eventually forced to close the business.

Langkawi...surprises me!!! by Steward Saw.

Right after my What?!-have-to-go-again-for-3-months ruminant practical in Johore, I went to Underwater World Langkawi for my 2-week practical. Or in other words, from a remoted nothing-to-do-than-better-sleep-early farm to a heavenly lively island. (OMG, I can’t believe I just said that, after cursing Langkawi island for having nothing but expensive food and hot weather 6 years ago…well, things improve..hehe )
Indeed a super big eye-opener for me, since I have not much of exposure to marine and aquatic animals previously (All I can recall is all of my pet fish died under my care when I was small). And lots of management stuff to learn, and it is even complicated when each species requirement varies. From marine to brackish water and finally to freshwater fishes, we learn the feed type, environment parameter, anatomy and bits of treatment, filtration system and lots more. And basically those things that explain why my pitty pet fish died. Haih, ignorance kills them.
Anaklangkawi :-
When most of us visited & look at the animal & fish from outside the box. This blogger have the opportunity of the lifetime by handling the animals from within.. Such a nice experience indeed.
Great to know he has such a great practical in Langkawi Underwaterworld.

p/s: Never know before that Underwater World offers practical for students..
