I BELIEVE in making bridges, not war. But I do not agree to building a bridge to Langkawi. Though the idea has been proposed by an Umno division head, it does not mean it would be the right thing to do.
Langkawi need not be raped by a project that will cause pollution and other health hazards. It will also greatly affect the environment. Work that may take years to complete may bring about unnecessary noise, dust, smoke and oil pollution. The island should be promoted in every other way but not by linking it by a bridge.
