Eurofighter Typhoon Visits LIMA for First Time

16:55 GMT, November 26, 2011 The Eurofighter Typhoon will be flying across the skies of Langkawi for the first time as a UK Royal Air Force aircraft participates in one of the most important global defence and security shows, LIMA 2011, which takes place in Langkawi, Malaysia, from 6-10 December.

Just a few days after particpating at the Dubai Air Show and with aircraft still in Malaysia following Exercise BERSAMA LIMA, the Typhoon will excite the crowds with displays demonstrating its incredible agility and speed.

Four RAF Typhoon aircraft from 6 Squadron flew from their base in Scotland to the Royal Malaysian Air Force airbase in Butterworth, Malaysia to take part in Exercise BERSAMA LIMA marking the 40th Anniversary of the Five Powers Defence Arrangement (FPDA), and whilst in the region wanted to reflect the importance of the air force to air force relationship by attending this prestigious exhibition.

Eurofighter Typhoon is the world’s most advanced multi-role combat aircraft. It meets current and future fast combat air needs and provides best-in-class combat effectiveness and operational flexibility. The Typhoon is capable of being deployed in the full spectrum of air operations from air policing and peace support, through to high intensity conflict. Typhoon aircraft have recently been deployed on operations and have performed exceptionally well, demonstrating outstanding levels of availability and maintainability.

LIMA 2011 Puchase of New Aircraft?

RSAF Boeing AH-64 Apache from Singapore Armed Forces ( SAF )

Promoting LIMA 2011. This will be among the best picture i've ever seen. Picture was taken in 2009 LIMA. Thanks to Arifuddin Radmad for sharing this wonderful picture.

Well, i've always in opinion Malaysia needs this kind of Helicopter rather than too relaying on aircraft such as Sukhoi or MIG's. Why? We are a very small country & our terrain are hilly mountain with thick forest. Having this kind of helicopter will give a durability to maneuver through the terrain un spotted. After all this helicopter can have a long rage missile which can cater long distance enemy. :).. Just my thoughts.

To RMAF. If you decide to buy one.. Give me a free ride will yea.. :)

Nantikan kedatangan LIMA 2011.

Gambar ditangkap oleh Arifuddin Rahmad.
Gambar RSAF Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon dari Singapore sewaktu persembahan LIMA 2009.
Pemandangan seperti & bunyi bising kapal terbang akan menerjah masuk ke halwa telinga masing-masing sepanjang LIMA 2011 berlansung. Lihat disini utk lebih jelas.

Dikatakan beberapa pengusaha kapal terbang tempur antarabangsa akan datang utk membuat promosi masing-masing sepanjang LIMA 2011 bagi melobi utk menggantikan pesawat MIG-29 TUDM.

Satu saja soalan yg mahu ditanya kepada mereka yg berniat utk mengunjung LIMA 2011. Adakah tempat tinggal telah ditempah?? Kalau belum.. Maka saya cuma boleh ucapkan 'good luck'.

LIMA 2011 is coming.. Brace for impact!

2005 LIMA Jet Plane
LIMA 2011 will visit us again by end of the year. I dont want to promote LIMA itself but just a gentle reminder to all the folks who wish to visit Langkawi during the event. PLAN YOUR VACATION WELL. Because during this event all hotel normally fully booked & cars are all rented out.

You'll might end up frustated & do not gamble coming to Langkawi without those two confirm unless you're a backpackers (which u dont mind where to sleep).

To Langkawi folks, hotels, restaurant & chalet/ homestay. Make sure the service provided to be at maximum best & please don't take this opportunity to make extra ordinary profit which does not make sense.

LIMA 2011 will be a memorable event to us. Hopefully it will to them. For chalet & motel owners, please ask deposit for confirmation to avoid last minute cancellation.

Jet picture provided by Rustywindow.com. Nice captured.. in 2005. More from him here.

Comment from him..
These pictures were from a holiday trip in December 2005. I remember Langkawi was very beautiful. Would love to visit again some day.

I didn't know beforehand that there would be an air show when we got to Langkawi, was a bit surprised to see all the airplanes flying. I literally ran closer towards the airport to take those photographs.  :)

Aircraft Spotting In Langkawi

SPOTTER : LIANG WEI

For those who love Aircraft Spotting. Langkawi offers an excellent choice of great places for spotting. The airport is beautiful and the weather is great. There's even a platform atop of a hill (refer as red spot in the map below). The place overlooks the entire terminal & airfield which offers panoramic view of airport area. The place is call Observation Hill or Bukit Chenkuan (as the locals call it).

Its was always full of Aircraft Spotters during LIMA Exhibition (Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace exhibition) which were held once every two years.

The best spotting runway will be Runway21.

The pictures own by Liang Wei

What is Aircraft Spotting?
Aircraft spotting or plane spotting is the observation and logging of the registration numbers of aircraft: gliders, powered aircraft, balloons, airships, helicopters, and microlights.
When spotting aircraft, observers notice the key attributes of an aircraft. They may notice a distinctive noise from its engine or the number of vapour trails it is leaving. They will assess the size of the aircraft and the number, type and position of its engines. Another clue is the position of wings relative to the fuselage and the degree to which they are swept rearwards. Are the wings above the fuselage, below it, or fixed at midpoint? Perhaps it is a monoplane, biplane, or triplane. The position of the tailplane relative to the fin(s) and the shape of the fin are also clues to its type. If it is an antique or light aircraft it might have a tail wheel. Some aircraft types have a fixed undercarriage while others have retractable wheels.
