‘Driving yourself is the best way to explore the island’

Even though Langkawi is a small island I decided to explore it on my own, without any tourist-like planning. One of the few good things that I did was buying a map of Langkawi. Renting a car was next on the list. Driving yourself is the best way to explore the beauty and adventure of the island. We obviously did break some minor traffic rules, as we were out to explore things on our own, but managed to not get into trouble. Unlike India, you wouldn’t find anyone walking on the roads, who can assist you with the routes so we were just on the mercy of the map and the sign boards.

The visit to the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club had me ogling at the cool yachts. I travelled to beaches such as Rhu beach, Cenang beach, Kok and Tengah Beach. The best part remained that everything was impromptu and unplanned, and that added to the thrill.

Things to keep in mind:
* Carry your driving license  if you want to drive there.
* Buy a map.
* Experiment with Malay food.
* Shopping isn’t a very good idea here. You could rather splurge on adventure and water sports.

Langkawi merupakan destinasi yg menarik bagi pelancong-pelancong. Tetapi kadang-kadang menjadi destinasi yg membosankan jika tidak mengetahui tips @ tempat yg menarik utk dikunjungi.

Rancanglah perjalanan sebaiknya utk mengelakkan percutian ke Langkawi menjadi tempat yg membosankan :-
1- Tempah awal Hotel/ Homestay @ tempat penginapan. (Budget, 5 Star lain-lain)
2- Tempah rancang awal Sewa Kereta. Jika ke sana sewaktu cuti sekolah adalah di'advise utk tempah awal-awal kereta mahupun bas jika dalam rombongan besar. (Kalau homestay mintak owner uruskan)
3- Cari peta & kawasan-kawasan menarik utk pegi. Elakkan sampai di Langkawi baru merancang. Lihat di blog-blog seperti (langkawi-updates.blogspot.com :)) utk tips pelawat-pelawat terdahulu, tips tempat makanan, tempat bersejarah, gambar-gambar & lain2. (Perlukan ketahanan fizikal & mental utk cari)

4- Sediakan duit yg mencukupi kerana 'ATM' hanya ada di tempat-tempat tertentu.

MUST DO
Oriental Village is the entrance to the famous Langkawi Cable Car. Don’t leave the village without trying this thrilling ride. The cable car is a remarkable engineering feat that brings people to the top of Gunung Mat Cincang. The views include the magnificent forest below as well as Telaga Tujuh waterfalls. Get down at the middle and top viewing stations to enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Andaman Sea and Langkawi Island from an altitude of 700m above sea level.


Then brave yourself to walk on the amazing 125m long suspension bridge to experience the feeling of walking in the clouds!

When you’re back on the ground, check out Oriental Village’s latest attraction — Tiger! Tiger! Gallery & Exhibit. Other attractions include paddle boat rides, elephant rides, deer park and playground for children to enjoy.

AVOID
Don’t shop before taking the cable car ride. It’s difficult to lug around bags while embarking and disembarking from the small cable cars that can only comfortably accommodate six adults each. Furthermore, it may take up to two hours from the moment you buy the ticket to riding the cable car. The entire ride and viewing on the mountain-top stations may take some time too. Also, visit the washroom at the base station near the ticket counter before taking the ride.

GOOD EATS
Snacks are aplenty at Oriental Village. There are also proper dining places with a choice of Thai, Japanese or local fare. Snacks and burgers are sold at the top station but at slightly higher prices.

TOP SHOP
The shops are quite good, especially during sale season, with almost everything from beachwear and handicraft to branded goods. There is also The Zon duty free shopping chain where you can get chocolates and many other items at lower prices.

INSIDER TIPS
There is a huge discount for MyKad holders for cable car rides and other attractions. So do remember to bring your MyKad, even for your children. As for the cable car ride, it can be quite tiring to queue for hours but sometimes, solo travellers or small groups of two or three persons may be grouped to fill empty seats. So keep an ear out for these ad hoc announcements. You may just be lucky and enjoy the ride earlier than you thought you would!

Menaiki ferry pertama jam 7.30 pagi dari Kuala Kedah. Kami menginap di CD hotel  di Pantai Chenang selama 2 malam. 

Cerita perjalanan Blogger Bintang Zohra ke Utara Malaysia. Langkawi termasuk dalam lawatan rakan kita. Tapi yg menariknya adalah melihat rakan kita merancang lawatan sehingga setiap pelusuk tempat boleh singgah. Ada tempat yg saya sendiri tak pernah sampai. Hm.. Menarik..

   Determine which Jeti or port to depart from to get to Langkawi. The Jeti for Penang is located in Georgetown at Swettenham Pier, near the Beach Street clock tower. There are two departures from Penang to Langkawi each morning. The ferry ride from Penang Island takes approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.

   Kuala Kedah Jeti is located on the west coast of peninsular Malaysia in the state of Kedah. There are daily departures every half hour from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on multiple ferry lines. The ferry ride from Kuala Kedah takes 1 hour and 45 minutes to Langkawi.

   Kuala Perlis Jeti is located about an hour and 15 minutes north of Kuala Kedah on the west coast of peninsular Malaysia. There are daily departures every half hour from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. The ferry ride takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach Langkawi.

We chosed to dine here that night. My husband ordered lamb shank, I had salmon and the kids had spaghetti with clams. They were okay, everybody finished their food except the kids. They were so shocked when their food arrived as it was full with clams..

Mare Blue Cafe terletak di Telaga Harbour & agak jauh dari pemandangan bandar kuah. Telaga Harbour terletak dalam perjalanan ke Cable Car Langkawi. Disitu jugak letaknya THE LOAF yg dipunyai oleh Tun Dr. Mahathir.

Cafe ni bagus dikunjungi pada waktu malam kerana suasana yg menarik, sejuk & pemandangan yg cantik pada waktu malam. Harganya adalah agak tinggi iaitu mengikut harga Hotel.

Tetapi adalah tidak salah jika kiranya datang ke sini utk berjalan-jalan diwaktu malam sbb agak romantik disini.

Merancang perjalanan adalah amat penting bila melancong ke Langkawi. Byk peta di website tetapi yg paling berguna nak menarik bagi cek adalah Google Map. Sbb boleh digunakan utk mencari direction dari satu tempat ke tempat lain.

Misalannya kalau nak tahu perjalanan dr segi KM & masa dr Kuah ke Pantai Kok. Cuma perlu letak nama di tempat kosong didalam google Map. Jawapan dr Kuah ke Pantai Kok mengikut goodle adalah 26.6km & masa adalah 33minit.

Jadi bijaklah merancang perjalanan di Langkawi utk elakkan membuang masa. Jadi utk bakal pengunjung Langkawi gunakan aplikasi sesuai utk mencari satu2 tempat di Langkawi
