Langkawi resort wins prestigious award

The Andaman voted 'Asia' s Leading Spa Resort' at World Travel Awards ball

The Andaman, a Luxury Collection Resort on Langkawi's acclaimed and secluded Datai Bay Beach, was branded 'Asia's Leading Spa Resort' at the 17th Annual World Travel Awards ceremony in London last week.

The Starwood-managed property beat out 16 other finalists for the accolade, which was conferred by more than 183,000 hospitality professionals around the globe.

"The World Travel Awards have become a very big deal," said Anne Scott, General Manager of The Andaman. "The fact that so many experts selected us serves as further testament that we're creating inspiring experiences for our guests."

Ten Malaysian Hotels Awarded Asean Green Hotel Recognition

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Jan 25 (Bernama) -- Ten Malaysian hotels received the Asean Green Hotel Award at a ceremony during the Asean Tourism Forum (ATF) 2010 here Monday, out of the total 155 hotel recipients this year.

The five newly-awarded hotels are The Andaman Langkawi (Kedah), Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah), Mines Wellness Hotel (Selangor), Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort (Tuaran, Sabah) and Renaissance Kuala Lumpur."The five hotels that retained their awards are Hotel Melia Kuala Lumpur, Nexus Resort Karambunai (Sabah), Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Penang, Shangri-La's Hotel Kuala Lumpur and The Frangipani Langkawi Resort and Spa," the Tourism Ministry said in a statement released at the function.
