Langkawi is renowned for its white beaches and clear waters, green padi fields sprawling fish farms. But it is not renowned for its food. Before heading to Langkawi, I spent close to 6 hours on good eateries to go to but came up with so few of them. So armed with the limited information, I and my cousins decided to hunt them down :)

Uitm Student Found Drowned In Langkawi ~ Pantai Tengah

LANGKAWI, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- A student from the UiTM Seri Iskandar campus in Perak was found drowned near the Porto Malai jetty, here, after he was reported missing since
Tuesday.Northern Region Maritime operations director, Commander Low Nee Thong, said the body of Mohamad Hafizi Yakop, 21, was found by a maritime patrol boat at 9.05am today, about two kilometres from where he was swimming at Tengah Beach on Tuesday.

He said Mohamad Hafizi, who hailed from Melaka, was believed to have gone for a swim at 6pm on Tuesday and got swept away by strong waves. Low said the Maritime Rescue Sub-Centre (MRSC) received a report on the incident at 7pm and launched a search-and-rescue operation.

"We found his body this morning and sent it to Langkawi Hospital. His family is already in Langkawi to claim the body," he said.Mohamad Hafizi, who had gone to Langkawi with 62 other students on Monday to conduct research in Harbour Park, Kok Beach, was scheduled to return home today.
